Bring the Spa to Mom for Mothers Day

Take the aisles in the Healthy Living Department. Our assortments of soaps and essential oils are exactly what you need for an at-home spa day, DIY-style.

The April/May issue of our Healthy Living magazine features tips on how to create the perfect DIY spa treatments. Here are some tips from writer Anne Graves:

Herbal Baths
Run very hot water over a bag or sieve of herbs in a muslin bag. While your tub fills to half, adjust the temperature to your liking, and add a few essential oils. For a positively indulgent relaxation experience, add a handful each of dried chamomile blossoms, lemon balm leaves, and rose petals.

Other herbs that help with all-purpose relaxation are lavender buds and whole rosemary, with rose geranium essential oil. Eucalyptus and peppermint help with colds, while a few drops of peppermint oil help with detoxification.

Essential Oils
Essential oils capture and concentrate the healing of plants, and they’re almost irresistible when combined with warm water. (Essential oils should never be used directly on the skin without first diluting them.)

If you’re adding essential oils to a warm bath, blend in just a few drop. For relaxation, try German chamomile or lavender.

Here’s a handy go-to list of essential oils and their benefits:

  • Chamomile  … Pampering
  • Grapefruit …  Joy
  • Juniper … Energy
  • Lavender … Soothing
  • Lemon balm … Relaxing
  • Rosemary … Clarity
